Information Technology training for Physically Disabled

Newry Technology Centre

Newry Technology Centre is a training facility set up to offer training to people with physical disabilities in the areas of Information Technology, Administration and Accounts.

The objectives of the Centre are to:

u Offer training and employment opportunities to people with physical disabilities, both congenital and acquired

u Increase employers’ awareness of the potential contribution of people with physical disabilities

u Raise confidence, skills and qualifications of beneficiaries allowing them to compete for employment, or for those in employment to enhance job opportunities within their current work role or enable new opportunities.

The Centre receives financial assistance from the European Social Fund (ESF) and as a result of tremendous successes to date were successful in their application for funding under the Northern Ireland Building Sustainable Prosperity Programme (BSP). The Centre are also financed by Newry and Mourne Health and Social Services Trust who are the Matching Partners.

All participants will work towards certificated qualifications.

Training is available to people with physical disabilities or those suffering from ill health.

Training is available in a wide range of OCR certificated qualifications using Microsoft Office Suite. Training in Web design and photo editing is also offered. Qualifications using SAGE Accounting and Payroll are also available.

Training is individually paced and structured to suit varying needs.

Training is available for both the unemployed and employed and at no cost for those who meet the criteria.
